Snips and Snails…

Here’s some things I’ve figured out, now that I’m five months old:

Snails

• Snails hide under the plant pots and containers on the patio
• They can be dislodged by nudging them until they drop off
• The thin shells of small snails break easily with a swift crunch
• Tiny snails are the juiciest and much more fun to toss around
• The yucky trail big snails leave behind sticks to my whiskers
• The shells of big snails are sharp when I crack them, but the snail inside is tasty
• When Babs offers me a treat I forget about the snail and eat the treat.
• It’s a mystery where the snail disappears to during the time it takes me to eat the treat

Mice

• On the Vineyard Walkie, after we go under the bridge, somewhere near the third tree on the left, there’s a dead mouse
• It’s a very juicy, stinky mouse, long dead, perfect for worrying, then rolling on
• Babs keeps hiding it in different places but any self-respecting Norfolk Terrier knows how to root it out

Worms

• After the rain, lots of long, fat earthworms come out
• They gather in the long grass growing next to the road track on the Woods Walkie
• Wet, fat, soil-encrusted earthworms are delicious
• When you worry a long fat earthworm, it breaks up into little bits.
• The little bits are great fun to toss around and Babs can’t get them from me
• Earthworms dry out to a tasty crisp after the ground has dried up

Frog

• There’s a dead frog somewhere in the dry-stone wall in between the river-bed and the vineyard
• I found it in the long grass nearby and rolled in it
• Paco got it from me and threw it into the wall
• It’s down in between some stones and hard to get to
• One of these days I’ll reach it and dig it out
